KETTERING, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – About 1,000 people walked for women’s wellness May 7.
The Walk to Women’s Wellness kicked off at Kettering Medical Center around 2 p.m., but the event started at noon.
Several vendors and food trucks were out at the event, including FOX 45. Our Mike Joyce, Mike Sullivan, Rhonda Moore and Elyse Coulter stopped by to have a good time, and Megan O’Rourke emceed the event.
The walk has been going on for several years, and one breast cancer survivor who was walking has help raised $30,000 through the event since 2003.
“Just to see people with, everything from longtime survivors to people that still obviously are bald and wearing scarves and still going through treatment,” volunteer Darlene Braunschweiger said, “I think we all inspire each other, which is just really cool.”
In 2016, there were 750 walkers, and the goal for 2017 was 1,000.
